Initially launched by then Vice President A Atiku in February 2002 at the Nordic History Museum, Stockholm, Sweden. NIDO Sweden is an organisation aimed at improving Nigeria mainly in the technical, professional and educational fields. We are a group of dedicated academics and professionals who meet to discuss issues at home and explore what contributions, especially from Sweden, can be made to benefit Nigeria and Nigerians.

Strategic Dialogue the Northwest Governors Forum Delegation
On the 12th of January 2026, NIDO Sweden members in various sectors Minning, Education, ICT, Policy and Healthcare in Sweden had a strategic meeting with the Executive Governor of Zamfara State- H.E Dr. Dauda Lawal, and Ms. Maryam Musa Yahaya the Director General of the Northwest Governors forum, during the Regional Opportunities for Growth 4 -day visit. The meeting was facilitated by the Embassy of Nigeria, Sweden, the CDA ai. Amb. Dr Elias T.A Fatile, and other officers from the Embassy of Nigeria were present. NIDO- Sweden delegates was led by Dr Halima Balogun- Amedu, and our professionals interacted actively with the executive Governor and all delegates. It was acknowledged that the diaspora community is of crucial importance to the growth of our beloved nation.
2025 BUSINESS MEETING AND NETWORKING EVENT BMN 3.0
On the 10th May, 2025 NIDO Sweden held its annual Business Networking Event (BMN 3.0). The event was attended by the Embassy of Nigeria, Sweden, the CDA ai. Amb. Dr Elias T.A Fatile, and other officers from the Embassy of Nigeria. This event focussed on strengthening the Nigerian professional and business community in Sweden. The goal is to facilitate meaningful connections and knowledge sharing. The theme focussed on personal financial management, Maximising your funds, Economic empowerment and building a strong entrepreneurship community.
NIDO Sweden Achievements 2024 – A Note from the Chairperson
In 2024, NIDO Sweden recorded significant achievements driven by individual excellence and collaboration. We celebrated the conferment of Prof. Celestine Iwendi as a Full Professor of Artificial Intelligence and his role in strengthening academic partnerships between Nigeria and the University of Bolton, UK. We also commend Mr. Vincent Oke of TecVinson Academy, Sweden, for training over 100 Nigerians in various IT disciplines. The year concluded with a successful Get-Together, and we honoured one of our founding fathers, Prof. Sam Atuma. We remain grateful for the resilience, and shared vision that continue to strengthen NIDO Sweden, as we grow our professional network and support homeland development.
